So, I've read online and I've also noticed myself that whenever I put my MacBook on a flat surface, like my desk, even when I'm watching a movie it won't overheat that much. However, when I put it on my lap or my bed, it will gradually start overheating and make a lot of noise.

So, I was wondering, do you think buying a laptop support, like IKEA's BYLLAN or BRÄDA help in that regard?

But that 2010 has a fairly old school graphics card and it produces a lot of heat running 1080p video. Unfortunately insulating that with your legs or a duvet (as well as possibly blocking some air vents) will cause it to heat up faster. so nothing soft and anything that draws heat away will be good.

Yes it will help. Every surface of the MacBook is used to radiate the heat away from the MacBook
