Is there any benefit to overclocking mac mini ? if so has anyone here tried and what are the results thanks

I would not overclocking Mac mini. First and most importantly, Mac lack of traditional UEFI interface found on all PCs. Therefore, you can't really overlocking via UEFI. You are most likely rely on software for overclocking.

Second. Mac mini has very little cooling, it is basically a laptop inside a small form factor chassis. When you overclocking your chip, you are risking it overheating. When your CPU's thermal goes around 80 to 90 degree, CPU will thermal throttle, render your overclocking pointless.
 
I have a 2012 Mac mini Server dual-booted with Windows 10. I installed Intel XTU which is what is used for overclocking... and about the only you can do is change the amperage to the CPU as well as the turbo-boost times.

Apple already pushes the chips in the minis to the thermal max, so theoretically you could get more performance by lowering amps while increasing turbo boost times. I think. YMMV. And maybe will fry mini.
