Just wondering if anyone else experiences this:

On both my personal iPad Air 5th gen with 8GB RAM and my friend’s 12.9 iPad Pro with 16GB of RAM we are noticing that Safari reloads tabs when switching, apps often reload to their default/starting state when multitasking (e.g. Mail losing a search).

It seems like 16GB (even 8) is plenty to not be seeing this behavior, but I also see it on my iPhone 14 Pro Max - which makes me wonder if iOS/iPadOS is just being insanely aggressive with memory management?

I think that's just default Mail behavior (no search results after being in background).

I've noticed using multiple windows in Stage Manager sometimes circumvents issues like this.

As for Safari reloads, I get far, far, far fewer reloads on my M1/16GB iPad Pro versus my A15/4GB iPad mini 6.

It's probably webpage dependent though. For example, I always have the MacRumors: iPad subforum open and if I don't use a specific iPad for a few days, I have to manually refresh otherwise, it would show content from when I last used it.

In recent weeks my 8GB M1 and iPhone 11 have been reloading apps even if I switch from one app to another and switch back within couple of minutes I get app refresh/reload.

Both on latest iOS/iPadOS versions.

With iOS/iPadOS 16 things have become buggy, unstable and overall disappointing for me as user, not Apple'ish at all.

I rarely had that. For safari, I use Wipr extension and control-d dns to block ad (and reduce the browser workload).

Safari seems to reload tabs long before any apps reload on my M1 Pro, 8GB RAM. I’ll find apps from a week prior still alive, but something triggers a Safari page reload every 3 days or so.
