Been using most iCloud services for years with no problem, and decided to try the iCloud Photo Library recently.

Long story short, had a number of problems with my iCloud Photo Library, and was easier to delete and start afresh. My Mac currently has the original and up to date photo library, whilst the iCloud Photo Library is still in the 30 day period before deletion, which is now out of date.

The plan is to wait the 30 day period then re upload my library fresh, then turn my iOS devices iCloud on to distribute the photos.

However, what would happen if I turned iCloud photos back on before the 30 day period? Would my photos duplicate or would the old library still waiting in the cloud be overwritten?

Thanks in advance

I am in the same boat. I recently upgraded my iCloud storage so that I could upload my photos library, but I noticed that I had a few thousand photos in iCloud from a few years ago when IPL first launched. These old photos seem to be causing some problems because none of my macs or iOS devices will upload photos to iCloud. I’ve tried everything, even spoke with Apple support and they were stumped too. I chose to delete the photos from iCloud, but just like you I have to wait the 30 days before they are truly deleted. Very frustrating.

I bet if you turn IPL back on right now nothing will happen.
