It has taken a significant drop from $1,400 just a month or so ago. I'd say the sweet spot would be around $500-$600, although again... if you can afford to buy it now. Go for it.

my 16gb of samsung arrived an hour ago. I am testing it on my 2011 server. first off the video ram is capped at 512mb so 8gb of ram gets 512mb for video and 16gb ram gets 512mb for video. or


7.5 gb + .5 gb = 8gb

15,5gb + .5gb = 16gb

so far the ram is passing the rember test.

always a bit scary to buy hi end ram on ebay. price was good 600 bucks.
