Pfft, if I send it back I might get a refund instead and buy from a UK e-tailor, as if this happens again then there are other options within in the UK which would be far less faffing about. Shame really, as these enclosures were exactly what I wanted (FW800 :/)
Sad it's been such a PITA. :( I wish you luck, no matter what you decide to do.

Also ordered $350 of memory from them too, let's hope that arrives
For what it's worth, I've not heard of members located in the UK having problems receiving their orders from OWC.

They want me to send it back at my own cost, £25 ($40), which was more than sending it to me in the first place.

Going to ask for a refund, get something in the UK.

That sucks, but I'm not all that surprised they're making you pay the return shipping. As per the rate, it may be due to the current US/Pound exchange rate.

Sorry it happend, and I hope you get it sorted with as little additional cost and aggravation as possible.

...that doesn't sound right unless they are telling you there's nothing wrong with the unit and sending it back to you?...

If they are sending you a replacement since the other is bad they should ship it to you on their "dime"...

They do pay the shipping for the new unit to the user. It's the return shipping of the DOA unit from the user to the vendor that the consumer gets stuck paying (it's stated in the warranty documentation, unless there's consumer protection laws that actually circumvent this).

They want the dead unit in their possesion before they ship a replacement (testing to see what happened, verify it's dead to keep a user from getting a free unit, ....).

So depending on where you live, YMMV as to paying the return shipping cost.

Nah, they obviously want it back to check what happened to it, either way they won't refund me so I'm going to re-think my strategy.

Probably going to swap it for a single bay unit and a mini-DP to HDMI adapter plus whatever else makes up the difference.

Shame really. The other one is working fine still (touch wood!)
