When I got my new MacBook Pro, I immediately ordered new memory for it from OWC to get it up to 4 gig. I called them to get an RMA so I could return the memory that came in my MBP and get credit for it. I brought it to the local post office and mailed it first class. Weeks went by and no credit to my account. When I called them, they told me they never got it.

For some reason, I don't believe this. I guess I should have sent it so I could track it but I figured I would have no problems. I haven't had problems with things getting "lost" in the mail. I can't stop thinking that when they saw it come in with no tracking, they knew they could tell me that it was lost and they would not have to pay me.

Has anyone elses memory sent back to OWC become "lost" in the mail?

I've been an OWC customer for over 5 years now,
and they have never let me down.
I live in Norway, and though its a long way, no issues.

I trust these guys 100%, and I think they're telling the truth.

Besides...
Why should they lie about refunds on 'old' RAM.
(Is it like $ 20 for I GB ? Why bother.)

;)

Cheers

Now you know why the post office offers insurance, delivery confirmation, return receipts and certified mail. Don't try to save two bucks when you mail something of value. Stuff gets mis-delivered and stolen all the time. I would not blame OWC. They would be stupid to risk their reputation for a $50 used RAM stick.

I get mail that is not mine in my mailbox all the time. Sometimes I get my mail that has be "redelivered". Likely your package went to some wrong address and that person ha not so nice to send it where it should go.

It's more likely that someone from the post office took it, from my dealings with OWC, or it's on its way to Poland.

I believe that, if they got it, you'd have a refund.

Yeah OWC is a very trustworthy company. I have even had them refund my money or let me exchange products out of the return period just because I feel like it.

I ship things everyday and I NEVER EVER use USPS. They are the most unreliable shipping company in the business. Sure they are cheap, but they cannot be trusted. Infact I stopped using there company after they lost 4 out of 12 packages that I shipped through Express Mail which is Next Day.

If you ever ship anything worth of value, use DHL, UPS, or FedEx. Yeah they are more exspensive for Next Day, but they make sure it will get to your location. DHL is extremely cheap for Ground, but UPS seems to be about double the price of DHL. FedEx....about the same as UPS.

TRUST DHL!!

I think you should consider re-titling this thread.

If you didn't ship it trackable and insured, and it never arrived there, how by any stretch of the imagination could this be a scam?

Trust me, OWC value their reputation and goodwill with the Mac community far higher than the $15 or so profit they could make by taking RAM without paying for it.
