Just as the title says.

I bought a OWC MIniStack STX to go with my Mac Studio, and I like it well enough except for the fan noise. The fan is constantly on, and it's annoying in my very quiet office (I don't hear the Studio fan at all). I was hoping to find a replacement fan, but if I can't find a quieter model, the MiniStack is going back.

Any and all help appreciated.

Did you find a solution for this? Could you unplug the fan? Asking for myself. I would only be putting an nvme boot drive in it.

Never did and returned the thing. I contacted OWC and they were no help. You definitely could unplug the fan if you're not using a HDD.

Just to pick up on this old thread - I got one of these new a few days ago at a good price. It just has the NVMe in it. It is very easy to disconnect the fan and doesn't seem to run hot without it.

The throughput is limited for Thunderbolt but if you can pick it up for the same price as an external USB SSD as I did it's a nice option thanks to the extra ports.

@DominicUK - Can ya provide any more details about how to disconnect the fan? Also - I have both an NVMe and a SATA SSD inside.. ya think it will be OK without a fan, as I am not using a spinning disk?
