Are you going to call me an OWC representative as well because I pointed out the terms?
That wouldn't be my first choice...

I'm ok with them lowering the price as long as they either let me know or allow me the option to have the RAM sent back to me.

I dont understand. What did you expect to get back? The full price of the Apple memory?

Most people would be happy to get anything back on their memory as the typical person just lets it sit around or throws the old stuff out.

I'll repeat myself...

They quoted me a price for my RAM. I sent my RAM in. They sent me a check for a lot less. They did not notify me first. I called and asked them to send my RAM back. They told me no. I would rather throw it out than be treated like that.

What did you not understand about their terms?

I have set up a Return Merchandise Authorization for Rebate, your RMA number is XXXXXXXXXXX. All rebate $ values are subject to current rebate pricing, as posted on the OWC website the day the item is received by the shipping dept, not the day the RMA is issued. So do not delay in shipping your RMA for rebate. Rebate values are subject to change.

From the date of purchase of a qualifying product from OWC, you have 60 days in which to return your item to OWC for a rebate check. Rebates are available for the number of similar item(s) that you've purchased. Also, the item(s) sent in for rebate must be in proper working order. Upon successful testing by OWC, a rebate check for the qualifying amount will be mailed to the billing address used on your new product purchase.

Price may change. After successful testing, they will send you a check.

You acknowledge they price may change when you accept the terms. You expect them to call everyone who sent in memory after a price drop? That is an administrative nightmare.

I expected a notification that the amount had changed BEFORE I received a check in the mail. It is NOT an administrative nightmare to simply send out an email when the check is printed. Since I did not get that, I expected the option to have them send me my RAM back to me.

Apparently, you are OK with OWC's methods and I'm happy for you. My post is to let others know about OWC's actions and not count the "rebate" into their purchase decision. I would have rather just bought the RAM and kept the old stuff in a drawer.
