Hey Gang,

My used 2015 MBP only has a 512 GB SSD and I'm considering purchasing the Aura 1 TB SSD from Other World Computing (Mac Sales). Good call or not? Anyone have any experience with OWC SSDs?

Cheers,
Dave

I would double check the performance stats. At one time their performance was only about 1/2 of your current drive.

After the OWC MacBook Air SSD debacle, I don't think I will ever purchase an OWC SSD again (even if they have stopped using antiquated SandForce controllers). I was disappointed by the lack of quality control, but I was even more taken back by OWC's response.

I was also really taken back by how they initially advised customers to not use TRIM by stating that TRIM could harm their Mac instead of stating that it was a firmware issue on their end that needed to be addressed...

The Transcend 820 will work with your computer, although it does entail some performance loss (for everyday usage, I doubt one will notice the differences.)

Does anyone know the controller for the 2011 MBA and the controller for a WD or Samsung or Crucial SSD?

You seem to know alot about controllers and which are good SSD's for MBA so I'm wondering if you can help make some suggestions for me? I'm looking to buy a 1TB SSD for a 2011 MBA in the next day or so, but no one can give me the right advice on which controllers are compatible with Apple's to make the right choice, would you know? And I agree whole-heartedly about OWC and SandForce controllers.
