Do you see something like the :apple:Watch going into a rotation? I mean if it succeeds at being a smartwatch, you would not want to wear anything else because of its usefulness, right?

I think your point about always wearing the Apple Watch is a good one.

However in my case no matter how good it is my plan is to buy a second gen model just for the experience to satisfy my curiosity.

After a few weeks of use I'll be selling it. That's why I'm waiting for the second generation watch. It'll have stronger resale because it'll be improved over the original.

My watches represent a different line of thinking and serve a different purpose beyond simply telling the time. The collection I have is centered around just one type of watch. It's how most serious enthusiasts of horology build their collections.

I like 100% hand made all Analog, Mechanical Swiss Made Chronographs.

One watch maker, a highly skilled horologist will spend up to one year building my watch. Only that one man ever touches the watch. It's truly a one of a kind luxury timepiece. It's about state of the art craftsmanship and exclusivity. A showcase of one man's skill and creativeness.

My watches are also sizeable models of substantial heft. With a case diameter of 48mm they look good on my large wrist and are very comfortable.

I live and work in a 99% paperless all digital world. My watches represent a break from that.

I wish I could afford one watch like that! I would not figure you are a good fit for an :apple:Watch then, other than the curiosity of it.

While at best a stretch here is some poor anecdotal evidence that you MAY be able to use more than one :apple:Watch. It says "Pair an :apple:Watch with your iPhone" and not your :apple:Watch.

The way your Pebble pairs to the iPhone is going to be quite different than the way the Watch will. The Apple Watch is more than just a simple bluetooth pairing: it has its own app and integrates deeply with the iPhone.

I doubt it will be able to handle two Watches simultaneously, at least at launch. What I'm wondering is how well your iPhone will handle the un-pairing and re-pairing of different Watches and how easy it will be to switch between Watches.

If it's relatively difficult I think more than just a few people will be unhappy, and these will be the type of people Apple is currently trying to woo with all of this recent promotion in Europe—the type of people who will think nothing of buying a Watch Edition, a Watch, and maybe even a Sport.

Well, you obviously know nothing at all about Pebble. Pebble ALSO has its own app and you need that app on your iPhone to use the watch, upload watch apps, and interface to a few programs on your phone if you desire. Go to the app store and search for Pebble. I'm sure the Watch App and probably some of the other Apps on the iPhone will be a little more integrated but it cannot be THAT different in the basics.

If it's bluetooth, why not (speculation)? Surely you're not talking about simultaneously, though, are you? If so, may I ask what for?

Who in their right mind would be buying two of the same watch? Remember all the bands are said to be interchangable. Also if the scuttlebutt is true the $10K watches will be available only from high end retailers these are the ones being targeted towards power buyers.

I'm buying 2. A space gray sport watch as my beater. I know I'm gonna scratch and ding it up at work, but that's when it's crucial that i have a smartwatch. So, I intend to buy a space black stainless steel version as well to wear when I'm not at work. That way I don't feel so bad about beating the other one up.

I'll carry a 6 in my left pocket and a 6 Plus in my right. With a watch on each wrist. :apple:

You should also get an iPad hanging off a gold chain around your neck with a dollar sign in the display. And maybe an iPad mini version for your each member of your entourage.

You should be petitioning for the Apple ring and buy 10 of them.

I was referring to two of the same meaning who would be buying say two Apple Watch Sports or two of the SS models. Not one of each, but I highly doubt it will be that easy to scratch (not impossible but not too easy) I'm sure that especially with the spot watch there will be some sort of anti-scratch as it is intended as a sports watch.

That's what I'm thinking of doing too.

You can't pair more than one watch to one iPhone - the relation is 1:1.

Unless they've explicitly stated this somewhere, I kind of doubt it. I see no practical or technical reason why this would be so.

edit: Just to clarify, i'm talking about being able to own more than one watch and use them both with the same iPhone at different times. Not using two watches simultaneously, which I doubt is possible.

You can't pair an Apple Watch to an iPhone that was paired to another Apple Watch without un-pairing the first Apple Watch from the phone. So yes, technically you can swap watches but only if you unpair / repair and setup your watch every time.

To clarify: what I said was that you cannot have two Apple Watches paired to the same iPhone at the same time. If you pair the phone to one watch, then pair it to another watch, it won't be able to communicate with the first watch anymore.

I'm sure you could pair and un-pair to change :apple:Watches. However the REAL question is will the Companion App allow data collection and App use seamlessly between 2 :apple:Watches.

For instance if I have on My Edition :apple:Watch and have 10,350 steps recorded for the day and change to my Sport :apple:Watch will my next step be 10,351 or 1?

If you put on your Edition, pair it to your phone, and walk 10,000 steps (with your phone in range), the data will be entered into HealthKit. Take off the Edition, unpair it, pair and put on the Sport, take steps and the data will be sent to HealthKit. HealthKit will show your total step count, and you can tell it to prefer data from the watch over the phone, or vice versa, when there is overlap in the case of iPhones with M-series motion co-processors.
