It is strange US companies want to rely on tech coming from China's communist party
Doesn't matter where/who it's from as long as it makes them money!

My philosophy is that if you can't make a profit without taking a person's info without their consent, much less knowledge, then you don't belong in business.

Just out of idle curiosity, why did IDFA exist in the first place? I thought privacy was part of Apple's DNA. Oh wait! That's music. Never mind.

It exists because some people actually don't mind targeted ads, and Apple can make a few bucks out of it.

Apple have always given users the opportunity to opt out. You can do it now, by choosing Limit Ad Tracking in Settings. That has global effect for all apps on the phone. You don't have to wait for an iOS update to do that.

The forthcoming change is more fine-grained (app by app basis) and requires positive affirmation on the part of the user. Which can only be an improvement.

If you didn't live through the Cold War your absurd Nationalism would be noted. The world became a global economy after WWII. You want to make a difference, great. Go join the IMF and work with other nations that need lifting up and will monetarily open more opportunities for corporations to have less dependencies on China.

Apple has a three pronged approach that soon China will be begging for their manufacturing investments once more. Will you be complaining sooner rather than later that Apple has a huge investment in India for manufacturing? We've got Vietnam, India, China and other lesser global manufacture nations in Apple's chain of productions. I get the feeling you won't be satisfied with anything but US Manufacturing which of course would provide zero jobs or near zero jobs, increases in product prices all so you can beat a drum and drape yourself in the flag that pretends to be the leader of freedom when it has historically used its might for corporate extortion, especially in East Asia and South America.

Lighten up Francis

I didn't know there was a Bounty chocolate bar. In the U.S., Bounty is the "quicker picker upper" paper towel.
Bounty is “the taste of paradise” If you like coconut, you might like them.
I once rode a Vespa to a beach in Crete, where they filmed an exotic advert for it.

I like how the story talks about how P&G is in bed with the China Advertising Association, but the picture shows the NBA app. What subtle message is Macrumors seeking to covey?

If you're serious about "with consent" P&G there's already a system for that, users can opt in to tracking with the standard IFDA. But you're not, thus your shady work with CAID.
Sadly all of these laws will allow some sort of a loophole where you have to agree to be tracked to use the service I’m sure...

The fact they go to this extent to circumvent anti-tracking policies shows how necessary some sort of law is. Or at least give people the option to pay for privacy?

I'm sure this congress is going to get right on the idea that corporations need to stop tracking people. Yeah. Any. Day. Now...

One thing I want to point out. China’s development most of the time discards a lot of stuff western world wants to protect, so they can have an easier development environment than in western world, for example facial recognition and this tracking thing. If Apple more or less renders IDFA useless for tracking purposes, CIDA could rise and replace IDFA, continuing to allow ad company to track their customers undeterred. If that one is killed by Apple? No worries, Chinese will come up with a new one after that is presumably better at tracking. This could become a cat and mouse game. Core issue i believe is Chinese people don’t value privacy as this is not part of their culture, but that’s the topic for another day.

Yes, but if you say that communists are unfit to exist, you'll probably get banned as a hater. Never mind that it's true, based on stats as simple as body count (Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot, etc).

Your "feelings" are all wrong. Stop assuming so much about people based on brief internet comments. I am happy for my products to be made outside the USA. I am not okay with the way China has been playing games and I don't support anyone doing business there and then preaching to other countries about peoples rights. If American companies want to act all superior and ethical then they need to back it up by refusing to work with China until they stop enslaving and imprisoning people for their religious or political beliefs. The Chinese Communists are causing massive human rights violations and no one with any power cares because they care more about money. Its pathetic.

It's really simple. On an Apple device Apple is going to require you to get permission to track. Period. We can have the 14.5 popup or Apple can bring out the heavy guns. It's the advertisers choice.

hahah, yeah boo to them all.
What the hell for real, they should just accept that they went on and on reigns free for so long, enjoy those free wins and continue on with the now revised proper rules from here on.

These measures by Apple will backfire on us as end users. Brands will start targeting by IP which is way worse. That means if you’re looking for a product your whole family will now know...
