Someone needs a nap

As for the NL, well, part of me wants the 'stros, and part wants the Cards.
I want the 'stros to win because I want to see Clemens pitch at Fenway again, and because of the whole underdog thing (we get that quite a bit around here ;)). But I want the Cards to win because I know the Sox offense will rip through their pitching, and the combination of Schilling/Pedro/Lowe (thank God he's back on form!)/Foulke/etc. should be able to limit them much like Clemens/Lidge/etc. did in the previous 3 games.

btw - what was the idea of taking Lowe out for Pedro? I almost had a heart attack!

My friend and I debated this all evening. I think it was a good move; my friend thinks Francona was insane. My reasoning: Pedro is good for his first 100 pitches. He needs to get over the whole "daddy" thing, and he needs to build confidence for the World Series. And it's not like there wasn't a huge cushion, being up so many runs, and it's not like he didn't have Timlin or Foulke to call on as soon as necessary. I think it was a good move, with mixed results -- at least it was only two runs he allowed, and he did get three outs.

Anyway, I agree that it would be better to face the Cards. I could care less about seeing Clemens again, and all I really want to see is a Red Sox World Series victory. I like their odds against St. Louis' pitching better.

I love baseball. Especially when the Yankees choke.

I'd love to see Boston - St.Louis as well (see my sig), but I think it will be fairly evenly matched. The down side for Boston is that they'd play 4 games in an NL park against STL, which means they lose the DH for 4 games instead of 3 against HOU.

Both sides have shaky pitching in the series, and both have potent offenses. We'll know tonight...

AL won the all-star game this year... saturday's WS game 1 is at fenway no matter who wins the NLCS.

can you imagine clemens pitching to pedro at fenway? (though it would take game 6 or 7 for that to happen since clemens will pitch today.)

Interesting to note that Schilling, traditionally an NL pitcher, will probably only pitch at Fenway so he doesn't have to run bases.

Also interesting to note that if the Astros make it to the WS, this will not be the first time Clemens was on a team that played WS baseball in Fenway Park, 1986 being the first time.
