Anyone using the apple watch and on the P90X workout programs? Just wonder which fitness app you use to track your workouts on the apple watch <-sync-> iphone? I have been using the "Other" workout choice from the stock app.

No, I've actually never used any other fitness apps, but might check that one out sometime. The main thing I wanted was the heart rate monitor and it seems to do pretty well.

I've also been using "Other" with P90x3.

I've been doing Insanity Asylum currently and have been a little concerned about using the watch. Feel the same about X3 as there are a lot of weights and burpees involved where I would be afraid of the watch interfering or breaking from pushups or dropping a weight.

P90X3 here too and I also use the "Other" option in the workout app. No interference issues with burpees or weights. Although my watch will slid around a bit on my wrist once I am dripping in sweat during the workout. :p

Curious what others are seeing for calorie burn during their X3 workouts. I know it will vary based on intensity and other factors. But I was surprised that the calorie burn wasn't higher for some of the cardio workouts (MMX, Agility). And I don't want to hear that I am not "bringing it" enough. :) My typical burn for one of those is in the upper 200 range. Max I think was just over 300 for one of the workouts.

MMX Thurs == 292.73
Eccentric upper Weds == 181.1
YogaX Tues == 253.51

I also haven't had any issues with transition between exercises. I am more conscience of the transitions as I don't want to damage the watch. I don't think it impacts the workout.

P90X is pretty much cardio.
Is Other workout better for weight training type workout or is it better for cardio workout?

I have found the AW alone doesn't do a great job of tracking HR/calories while doing strength training. I've been using my husband's polar strap with my AW and it takes my hr much more accurately.

I started doing P90X3 without the chest strap and just using the AW to monitor my hr. It takes the AW about 15 mins to register my hr over 100, even though I'm sweaty and already gasping for breath at that point. Love my AW, but I feel there is much room for improvement on the fitness side.

Edited to add, I use "other" to track my p90x or strength training workouts.

I'm so glad I found this thread guys. I don't have my watch yet but I so want to track my p90x3 workouts.

Do they integrate with the Health app?
Yes, it will if you track through the AW workout app.

How does the calorie differ between AW and Polar chest strap?
Do you have the H7?

Yes I have the H7, I would say there is a 15-20+% calorie burn difference, and when you are trying to count calorie intake vs burn for weight management that makes a big difference.

That's interesting.
I don't do P90x, so for weightlifting (using barbells), there not be as much difference.

Because this thread got bumped, and because I work out with the P90X series more often than any other video series,…

I'll just add that I simply record the workouts with "Other" in the stock app. I use the P90X app on the phone to log weights and remind me of which exercises are on the list (when I'm not playing the videos on the phone), but a that's about it.

If I had an AW app to log every detail I'd encounter during just one week of P90X1/2/3/+, it would probably be way too complicated to use quickly while on my wrist.

I'm doing p90x now, but when I was doing more weight lifting I found my results were the same i.e. more accurate hr tracking with the chest strap.

Oh sorry, my previous post didn't make any sense.
I was just wondering if caloric burn rate might be closer between AW and Polar H7 while doing weightlifting.
Apparently not.

Sorry to revive old-ish thread.

Are you guys finding the tracking of P90X -like exercises improved under WatchOS3?

Sorry to thread-bump this again, but I am really curious what folks that do the P90X-series of exercises think of doing them with WatchOS 3? Are there any improvements to tracking over the prior WatchOS versions when doing these types of exercises? @mickerz @BarracksSi @iSpock @Dub1ous

I have no idea about how the numbers compare, but at least I get more options for naming the workouts once I'm done. Having "Other Other Other Other Other Other" on the old list was kinda vague. ;)

As with any wrist based heart monitor the numbers are always up and down. Unless you use a strap the numbers are an estimate at best. I learned a long time ago that I hated wearing the strap so I have been sticking with the Apple Watch and just not taking the calories burned number as exact number but more as a way to keep me accountable.

I use my apple watch to track all my crossfit workouts everyday. Somedays the calories burnt is super high others it isnt.

I wish the beachbody app was a little less finicky. It's nice that the workouts sync to your watch when running the video from phone or Apple TV but if you try to look at your watch or back out of the app while working out it gets disconnected and the data is lost.
