page layout in illustrator....

Im setting up a document in illustrator (indesign not an option). I have bleed and safe area specs. Are there settings in illustrator to set these up or do I just
use guides?

You can set up a bleed in the Print Dialoge, Safe area would be with guides (you can create a rectange and convert to guides, I like doing that ;-P )

I usually use Illustator for Page Layouts. Anything like a book or loads of text is when I put it in Indesign. And I think Indesign does better seperation work, but that's just me.
