Hi all.

Got myself a MacBook Air 15 and handing my old MacBook Pro 2016 to my wife. Did a full erase/reinstall and set it up in my wife’s name with her iCloud account without too much investigation and now paying with the fact that as it is only on Monterey (12.7) and won’t install Pages/Numbers etc. oops, as that was pretty much what she needed it for.

Having looked into it looks like I am pretty much screwed with getting Pages and Numbers back, so are there any other decent software options out there? Or do I bite the bullet and pay for Word/Excel.

Bit of a pain in the bum and Apple clearly punishing those that hang on and use the legacy machines.

LibreOffice is widely considered one of the best Office alternatives and it is free
i personally think that it is looking fine, but some people think that it's looks are a bit dated, if that concerns you
and you can customize it's layout to mimic old Office pre-ribbon menus, the current ribbon one, or a couple of other alternatives to suit your needs

no....
really? again?

why can't  get over their petty selves with their tight-assed approach on Pages and numbers?
when Mojave was released, High Sierra's pages was not available to download thru the App Store.
I under stand marketing and profiting, but this pages and numbers hoarding is ridiculous!

and libre office defeats the whole continuity purpose with us using an iPad and MacBook to write nd use spreadsheets.

what I did in 2015 was use a public library's pages and numbers for a mountain lion mea which worked.
I placed those on a thumb drive and installed the programs later.

I can try to sent you Monterey pages and numbers, the files still works just  wont let you download from their site.

You could try the potential solution given in the second post. Assuming you have pages etc in your Apple ID purchase history, create a new user on the Monterey machine, connect it with your Apple ID, and check to see if the software is downloadable.
WHEW!
I might return to Monterey this weekend and cant find pages on my external ssd drive
that is used to run Monterey on the MacBook Air m1, I hope that App Store ID thing works!
