I just used Pages to complete a month-long journal for a summer abroad class and program in Germany and Italy. I used this instead of a pen and pad so I could still have my journal after the midterm checks and final turn-ins. I must say that $10 surely did come in handy...

Although I did get Pages with an iTunes gift card. Same reasoning, though, right? Hahaha...

Pages and Numbers both work great, for what they are intended for.

I used them both while I had my iPad but found myself wanting a keyboard when I was using both of those apps. My note taking would sometimes evolve into a bit more and the iPad would get funky trying to type in some situations. My solution, sell it and get an Air. I did the first part but have yet to pick up the Air.

I think the iPad is great all around and good for notes but anything longer and the wrists start to hurt. Atleast that is my experience. :D

My experience as well. Its only when I started to write some science fiction that I discovered more than 10 minutes of continous typing would start to hurt the top back of my hands. Then of course putting the ipad in the comfortable orientation would prevent a glare free (relatively) view of the screen lol.

Back to the laptop.

Absolutely worth it! I use it every single day on the train ride home to finish legal documents for court the next day. It seems we're always starting something at 4:30 ;)

I thought that only happened on Fridays. :D

I was contemplating whether to get the Pages iPad app or not.

Perhaps I should wait for iCloud compatibility.

I take all my lecture notes on my iPad using Pages. Great app.

Except we need full dropbox integration. Transferring files via iTunes is such a hassle! I don't want to pay for WebDAV either.

IOs5 I want dropbox integration!,!!!!!

Won't documents in the cloud solve that issue?

I haven't tried pages so I can't really comment, but take a look at Documents2Go, one app features docs, spreadsheets and presentations.

Well I got it. Have not used it a ton yet, but from the little I have so far, very nice. I think it will come in very handy.

Pages for the iPad is not the most capable word processor. It's not even as capable as the same product in the OSX environment. And neither is as comprehensive as Microsoft Word.

But is it worth $10? The cost of a couple of grande lattes? Of course it is.

If you're taking notes, there are plenty of free note-taking apps that may or may not be better than pages for word-processing, but 100X better than pages for taking notes.
