Pages, Numbers and Keynote: Code Signature Invalid

As of today, Pages, Numbers and Keynote crashes on a freshly installed system running 10.13.6.

Exception Type: EXC_CRASH (Code Signature Invalid)
Exception Codes: 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000
Exception Note: EXC_CORPSE_NOTIFY

The code signatures seem to be expired(?) Removing the apps and reinstalling does not resolve this. Unfortunately, I'm doomed to 10.13.6 on this machine.

Has something happened in App Store regarding the release of Big Sur and the (formerly known) iWork suite?
 
I have exactly this problem. Upgraded a late 2013 imac from Sierra to High Sierra on Sunday. Afterwards lots of apps failed to start with exactly this message. I did a clean install of High Sierra, but the problem persists. It affects Pages etc and all apps downloaded from the AppStore. Looking at System Information / Applications, these apps are shown as 'Obtained from / Unknown'. Apps downloaded from the internet are opening fine (showing in System Information as 'Obtained from / Identified Developer') as are those installed as part of High Sierra. Very bizarre and very frustrating.

Same issue here, went from Sierra to High Sierra on a late 2013 iMac. I'm unable to run anything from the App Store now, and have that same "Obtained from Unknown" description for each of these apps.
 
Same here, updated from Sierra to High Sierra on Saturday (iMac 27” 2009). Pages, Numbers and some recently AppStore downloads don’t work anymore. Looking forward for any solution or help...
 
Same here... updated from El Capitan to High Sierra on a MacBook Pro Early 2011 after building in SSD Hard Disk+16gb RAM. It worked two days and stopped working today, not even in Safe-Mode. It just affects App Store Apps... MacBook can't find a Hardware problem. Has anyone tried a downgrade to Sierra?

I was wondering what would be best : downgrade to Sierra (and lose hours of files cleaning) or upgrade to Mojave..?
 
I erased the Hard Disk and installed High Sierra once again... now it works... strange. Last time it only worked for two days. If it stops working I will try the downgrade...

Remember ... for stock markets ... there is only FORWARD ... never BACKWARD! If stock goes down, "they" get angry. Now is the perfect time to sell Apple stocks. That's my opinion.

Helped with my USB OS X High Sierra Boot Installer made with diskmaker.

- Restart
- PRAM reset
- login, disable WLAN
- Insert USB

- Restart & Clean Install

Garageband, Pages, Numbers, Keynote works again. Before they all failed.

Same Issue for me; I upgraded from El Capitan to High Sierra yesterday (on a macbook pro mid 2014), and now all applications downloaded from the App Store crash on opening (including ones updated after upgrade), with the crash log file showing the error as 'Exception Type: EXC_CRASH (Code Signature Invalid), Termination Reason: Namespace CODESIGNING, Code 0x1'.

As a temporary hacky solution, I am doing the fix suggested here for a similar problem, which seems to have worked for me so far. It's quite hacky though, and relies on a command being run for each app independently so not a sustainable solution. I hope something changes so it is possible to use the app store normally on High Sierra.
 
sudo codesign -f -s - /Applications/Steam.app/Contents/MacOS/steam_osx

what do you have to do after it opens terminal?

The exact command I typed in the terminal, for getting GarageBand to work, was:
Code: 
codesign --force --deep --sign - /Applications/GarageBand.app
(which I took from the bottom of this page). Change the '/Applications/GarageBand.app' bit to whichever app store app you need that isn't working. (You would need to run a separate command for each app you need).

To be able to run this 'codesign' command you need to have xcode command line tools installed which you can install by typing in the terminal:

same problem here, even with codesign i can't use any adblocker, something that hooks to safari is still crashing, cannot see any extensions in safari preferences

I'm in the same boat as you guys. I have a 2011 Mac Mini that's been running on the factory 500GB HDD. Upgraded it today to High Sierra and (unwisely) applied the 2020-006 Security Update... and all apps fail at start w/ the stupid "Exception Type: EXC_CRASH (Code Signature Invalid)"

Your command there worked on my password manager. Is this workaround good until the app is updated?? Not sure if this will reset at boot, app update, or is good forever... I guess I'll find out.

How long do we think it is until Apple "fixes" this? Not sure if Apple needs to do something? Or if all apps need to be resigned? (I don't know enough as to what the fix would be...).

It will work until you update the app I think.

I think Apple needs to do a new minor OS update for High Sierra as it's a problem with the OS rather than the apps on the app store, but not sure if they will or not. Resigning the apps with the above command isn't a proper solution in the sense it is just like you manually saying you created the app rather than got it from the app store so that opening the app is not blocked by security that for some reason is blocking app store apps. Resigning in this way doesn't work for all apps though - I tried it with the latest version of Numbers from the app store and the app prevented itself from being used with a local signature (I think because of it's new integration with icloud), so I stayed with the old version of Numbers I had before and resigned that instead.
 
I've tried resigning the numbers app but then it opens, but if you create a new doc or open an existing doc, it crashes with another error about entitlements.

Crashing on exception: The application is missing required entitlement com.apple.developer.icloud-services
 
I am having the same problem. I've talked to apple support many times. I did the installation clean many times but could not find any solution. I think an update should be published by apple. If any of you can find a solution or hear some news, I would be glad if you could write here guys.

Pages 8.1, Numbers 6.1 and Keynote 9.1 are all running fine on my late 2014 mini running High Sierra.
They all offer me the option of a free update if only I were to update OS to 10.15.
Perhaps it's because I habitually run with Auto-update turned off. Then again those Apps never show up when I do check for updates.
