First of all, just to let you all know that I do not plan on using the following apps like Pages, Keynote, and Numbers so I removed them.

These apps were already installed when I first got my new iPhone XS running iOS 12 or maybe iOS 13 (cannot remember which iOS version the XS came with).

Anyways, I had a minor issue with my phone and had to perform a Factory Reset and selected the Don't Transfer any Apps or Data on this Phone or it used to be called Setup as New iPhone.

When my phone was setup, the Pages, Numbers, and Keynote apps were not there anymore.

Reason asking this question, is for curiosity. Would like to know the reasoning behind this.

As a matter of fact, I removed many other apps as well which I do not need BEFORE doing the Factory Reset like iTunes, iTunes Store, Apple Music, Shortcuts. These apps came back after doing the Factory Reset. But not the Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.

I am just interested in the reasoning behind this.

I am not using iCloud either.

They are not built in system apps. Hence you can no longer see them after a full reset without restoring from a backup.

For the reasoning behind it, imagine iOS bundles page, numbers and keynote. The iOS download size would be a colossal 8GB instead of (still very big) 4GB. Sure, it’s not a huge deal for a lot of people, but not everyone wants them either. I use Microsoft office suite, so I certainly don’t need apple’s solution.

Yes, that’s right, Pages takes up a lot of space.

It was used to be called iWork, which was just a bundle that included Pages, Numbers, Keynote.

Anyways, I don’t need it.

Thanks for the explanation!
