The first time I open Pages after a cold boot, it takes anywhere from 30 seconds to 1 minute of bouncing icon before the app actually opens. Does anyone else notice this? It happens on a clean Mac and a freshly clean installed Mac. They are both up to date.

yes i have noticed this since upgrading to Lion, it did not do it on snow leopard, it has actually put me off using pages now for my uni work and where I can am now using text edit. This is something that needs to be addressed as no other apps do this, i wouldnt expect it especially from an apple made app on an apple machine.

Just an FYI, word is 10x worse! When I launch word, I can go get a cup of coffee, talk a short walk, and come back and it STILL isn't loaded. I'm on Snow Leopard, and pages took 6 seconds to come up. I haven't tried it on Lion recently.

I've a 2010 MBP with a SSD. OSX Lion and pages loads after a cold boot in about 6 seconds. I've turned off localized backups and the sleep image though.
