Okay, I've been trying to move from Word to Pages and had a few pain points around memory usage and some feature limitations. But I just 'upgraded' to the latest version, and the UI is a hot mess. Any tips on how I can de-uglify this?
Okay, so a litlte testing shows that it occurs with the toolbar set to icons only and the window width is below some arbitrary amount. If I switch to text and icons and then expand the window, it goes back to a solid, useable background.
I have both at the moment. I have been hoping that the new version will fix the memory leak (seemed to be tied to apple intelligence being on in my global settings by default). I'll do some testing when I don't have important files open.
Today I learned you can install specific versions of an app on the App Store. I guess Apple made a dedicated app page just for this version, but still. How did you find it?
I love Microsoft Word, I use it daily for my work. I tried Pages over the years but it's just not as feature rich. Can I ask you why you gave up Word for Pages?

You can't, there's no way to split out a version. What Apple did was simply rename them to add "14.5", then they created new listings for the new apps. If you already have them installed you'll see 14.5 just as another update.
FYI: 14.5 won't let you use iCloud collaboration. If you use that like me, you'll need to use the newer version. I'm on Sequoia still so I don't have the liquid glass UI but if you're on Tahoe that's something to keep in mind.
