Is anybody having any issues with WPA2 Enterprise networks?

Tried getting onto College one a good 20 times, managed to get in once (then proceeded to forget the network), but then just froze on the log in page, all the other times it just rejects the password.

Takes a long time to find the network as well, will just be spinning for 30-40 seconds before it finds it (when it does).

Tried it on an iPhone 4 today and it worked perfectly, so it's not the network...

Also seem to be getting 1/3 peed on WPA2 Personal vs unsecured on Speedtest.net, and pages are loading much slower than the other iPhone 4s on the home network.

One other thing, it doesn't seem to be as ready to pick up 3G, don't know if anyone else has noticed that.

DDustiNN You are absolutely correct. Don't do any of that stuff it is an issue with the wifi card/chipset on the iphone 5.

Trolls.... Leave well enough alone, this thread is crazy enough.

To everyone saying "reboot your router" or "change your router settings", etc...

THAT IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE SOLUTION.

Why would you need to do that when EVERY OTHER DEVICE is working perfectly fine on that very same connection? iPad, iPhone 4, MacBook Air, HP laptop... all get the same speed, from the same servers, on the same wifi, in the same room... yet iPhone 5 does not. It clearly has nothing to do with the router, the servers, etc. This isn't rocket science.

You do not have access to just reboot every wifi router you connect to. You can't expect everyone else to accomodate and work around a problem with your phone.

Plain and simple: If my iPhone 4 works, my iPhone 5 should work just as well (if not better).

Thanks for the post. I was going to go to the Apple Store after work and explain it, but I think will call customer service instead so there is a record of it first.

I'm having this issue as well, but strangely, only when i'm on ATT's public open wifi. I went to both Starbucks and an ATT corporate store and the wifi was painfully slow as described in OP's post. So i'm not sure if it's because the wifi in general is slow at those locations or if there is indeed an issue with either iOS6 and/or my iPhone. I should also mention that when i'm at home, I have no issues whatsoever.

This is very frustrating. The wifi signal on my iphone 5 is too weak to do anything in my room and at my desk (30-40 feet away from router only bedroom walls in the path). Using LTE is fine, but I facetime a lot and that now lags out. Didn't have this problem in the iP4 and ipad 3 on iOS 5. Facetime also lags some on my ipad after I upgraded so software may be to blame. Skype video hold a constant feed so I don't think it's my wifi dropping signals constantly.

Speed test shows my iP5 running 2-3 times slower than my iP4 and ipad (5-10 Mbps vs 15-20 Mbps). No issues when I sit in the same room as my router (15-30 Mbps depending on time of day), but I don't want to spend ALL my time in the living room.

Swapped and still not working

I went to the Apple Store and they ran some diagnostics. Decided to give me a new phone. WiFi issues are still present. I guess I will be going back tomorrow and trying again.

Also, my first phone also had the light leak issue but the replacement does not.

I'm so friggen frustrated.

Seriously? To then eat up their data and tank their batteries?

Turn off LTE then. Most people don't even come close to using their data allotments. Half the time ya just pay AT&T for the plan itself because everyone is afraid of using their data.

How about just not turning on the iphone at all?! your solutions are pretty lame, no offense.

What difference does it make? We all know iOS 6.0.1 will fix the majority of the problems. A new phone with new hardware and a new OS is prone to a bug or two.

I'm so friggen frustrated.
My experience has also been quite frustrating. I'm trying hard to like this phone, but so far Apple has stacked the deck against a fun, enjoyable experience.

Once the phone became more than just rumors, I let go of my personal preferences because I _Like_ Apple. I decided to go with the flow, accept the odd sized display, and celebrate the aspects of it that I _did_ like.

So by the time it arrived, I was in complete acceptance. Telling myself I'd be extra tolerant, I unboxed it with a very positive attitude.

Upon removing it from the packaging I even decided that I wasn't going to do my normal cursory inspection. Why? Because frankly I didn't want to find anything wrong. All I wanted was to use it and enjoy it.

Sadly that only lasted about two minutes till my fingers felt a very rough spot on the back of the phone. Quite honestly, I didn't even want to look. Yet I did, much to my dismay the area around the Apple logo had both deep, and long, 1.0" long to be specific, scratches.

I thought OK I'll simply take it to the Apple store that's just ten minutes from home. As usual, they looked at it, could barely conceal the surprised look on their face, said nothing as the genius swiftly walked away & returned with a new unopened box.

It's important to note they were extremely crowded & busy, but as usual I received excellent swift service.

Once again, in the spirit of faith in Apple I simply couldn't bring myself to open it there. So I took it home and yes, you guessed it, this one is also scratched. Nonetheless I decided to keep it since it had fewer, shorter, shallower scratches near the Apple logo than the first one.

Now I have the slow WiFi issue no matter if it's at my home, at my office, or a hotspot.

So much for doing my part to toss out any expectations or preferences. I would have never guessed the scratched phones would made it through a quality control check & get shipped anyway.

At least I kept my truly excellent 4S. I'm setting aside the 5 and going back to my 4S. It's as nice as the day I got it, there is not a single scratch, nor is their anything wrong with it.

I'm so glad I kept it :)

Has anyone been able to return the phone because of this problem and get a replacement?

Mine is having the same issue... Sometimes wifi doesn't work at all, sometimes its painfully slow, sometimes it works fine. This is only occurring in my home. But I have an iPad and MacBook air which have and are working fine every time, so obviously it has to do with the iPhone 5. I love this device so far and was thinking about just making do until a fix comes out and using LTE when at home (my wifi at work is fine for whatever reason) but I've gone through almost 1 GB of data already so I'm thinking of returning it and hoping the replacement unit doesn't have these problems.

It's just weird that I'm having this problem at home and not at work... But I know it has to be the iPhone since all my other devices are fine...

I am experiencing the slow wifi with new iPhone 5. Question, I got my iPhone 5 thru Verizon preorder system. Can I take it to apple store to have it replaced or does it need to go to Verizon.

I have resolved this issue on my phone by going into my router and setting 802.11 N as the only wireless signal before I did this I was broadcasting n/g/b and my speeds were all over the place after disabling g and b all was fast as can be. After doing this though a 3gs would not connect to router and I think its because it does not support N but not sure I went back and enabled N and G now both devices can connect but my speeds have also gone down to 25 Mbps - 27 Mbps but i can live with that.

My issue is not only slow speeds, but terrible signal and drop offs. All other WiFi devices (including my iPhone 4) detect the two routers in our house.
The iPhone 5 sometimes does, other times doesn't detect the router in the basement. I then connect to one of the routers and it will drop off. It is also very slow. I have to resort to LTE most of the time, but I really want the WiFi to work.

My friend has the iPhone 5 and has no issues with WiFi. I read it could be a WPA2 issue, but really shouldn't have to change my settings, what if I went somewhere where I couldn't.

Is this hardware issue? Should I try to get my phone replaced? What are the chances it will work is another concern...

I experienced no WiFi issue. I use LTE mostly, it's way faster than WiFi, at the cost of more power consumption though.

Add me to the list of slow WiFi. This never was an issue with my iPhone 4. It's ridiculous to be getting faster 4G speeds than with my home WiFi.

Why is it every time Apple releases a new version of the iPhone, there are issues?

Possibly Bluetooth related?

I think the wifi performance issues could be related to Bluetooth.

Today my colleague and I noticed how poor both of our iPhone 5s wifi performance was compared to my iPhone 4 while comparing them at work.
Because of this I decided to take a scientific approach and promised to run some controlled tests at home.

One thing I did noticed when arriving homes was how poor the wifi performance was on my iPhone 5 compared to my iPhone 4 while sitting in my car just after I had essentially disconnected it from my blutooth headset by turning the car off. This performance difference was very much on par with what I have noticed at work so I didnt think much of it at the time.

I even tried running the same tests but disabling LTE and 3G on my iphone 5 however it didnt seem to effect the result by a consistent amount.

Note that my iPhone5 and my Colleagues had been on and off different Bluetooth connections a few times during the day (various work utes I had used)

I then headed to my office to run some tests using my own wifi connection.
My first recorded run showed as expected, the iPhone5 speedtest result was about 50% faster, on par with every other test I had run that day.

Before I starting the recorded tests I turned off BLUETOOTH on my iPhone5 then turned it back on when I decided to run the first test with it on

Misc Settings
- Wireless G/N
- WPA2
- iPhone 5 (iOS6)
- iPhone 4 (iOS5.1.1)

Test 1 -Speedtest.net (5 metres from router through a few walls)
Settings: Wifi on / Cell Data On / Bluetooth On / LTE On

iPhone 5
Run1 12ms 7.98Mbps / 1.01Mbps
Run2 12ms 8.22Mbps / 1.02Mbps
Run3 12ms 8.24Mbps / 1.02Mbps

iPhone 4
Run1 20ms 8.95Mbps / 0.99Mbps
Run1 20ms 8.46Mbps / 1.02Mbps
Run1 17ms 8.42Mbps / 1.02Mbps

Comments: This is not what I had been getting earlier.
I not have very consistent speeds between the 2 iPhones.
Before I started recording my test results my iPhone5 could barley reach 4Mps download from this exact position... perhaps toggling bluetooth off/on earlier has resolved the speed issue?

Ill try turning bluethooth back on and re running the tests...

Test 2 -Speedtest.net (5 metres from router through a few walls)
Settings: Wifi on / Cell Data On / Bluetooth Off / LTE On

iPhone 5
Run1 12ms 8.31Mbps / 1.00Mbps
Run2 12ms 8.31Mbps / 0.97Mbps
Run3 12ms 8.31Mbps / 0.99Mbps

iPhone 4
Run1 18ms 8.49Mbps / 1.03Mbps
Run1 19ms 8.34Mbps / 0.99Mbps
Run1 17ms 8.40Mbps / 1.01Mbps

Comments: Hmmm its almost like my wifi issues have melted away. Whats going on here? I still have a feeling its bluetooth related since I have been using my iPhone 5 on bluethooth in the car all day and as soon as I turned off Bluetooth my speeds have doubled...

Lets go connect the iPhones to my Car headset again and see if it destroys by speeds again....

Test 3 -Speedtest.net (7 metres from router through a few walls in my car)
Settings: Wifi on / Cell Data On / Bluetooth CONNECTED / LTE On

iPhone 5
Run1 17ms 2.36Mbps / 0.62Mbps
Run2 12ms 2.15Mbps / 0.49Mbps
Run3 12ms 2.45Mbps / 0.48Mbps

iPhone 4
Run1 20ms 4.56Mbps / 0.45Mbps
Run1 19ms 4.39Mbps / 0.44Mbps
Run1 17ms 4.41Mbps / 0.41Mbps

Comments: JACKPOT. While connected to Bluethooth I have managed to recreate the poor wifi performance of the iPhone5. Now if this was a simple world I would still retain the poor iPhone5 wifi performance when I turn my car off....

Test 4 -Speedtest.net (7 metres from router through a few walls in my car)
Settings: Wifi on / Cell Data On / Bluetooth on (disconnect) / LTE On

iPhone 5
Run1 17ms 6.36Mbps / 0.65Mbps
Run2 12ms 6.15Mbps / 0.44Mbps
Run3 12ms 5.98Mbps / 0.55Mbps

iPhone 4
Run1 20ms 6.96Mbps / 0.45Mbps
Run1 19ms 6.79Mbps / 0.49Mbps
Run1 17ms 6.21Mbps / 0.41Mbps

Comments: Ok....so this time as soon as I disconnected my car from my headsets speeds returned to normal. I then confirmed this by running the test again from my office, same as test 1.

Conclusions Drawn:

While connected to Bluthooth the iPhone5s wifi performance is around 50% worse than the iPhone4.

During testing, simply disconnecting the iPhone5 from the bluetooth stereo headset restored wifi performance back to iPhone 4 levels.

After spending a few hours connected to a bluetooth headset in the car streaming audio and taking a few phone calls, apon leaving/disconnecting from that bluethooth connection my iPhone 5s wifi performance was halved until I turned bluetooth off completely. This was also the case with my colleague who had without realising it been doing the exact same thing as me with his iPhone 5 and has the exact same wifi performance degradation.

I will try and call up my colleague and get him to test his wifi performance at home, then have him switch off bluetooth and re test.

Can ANYONE confirm any of these results?

Can ANYONE confirm any of these results?

Except that I had problems and my BT hasn't even been turned on once in my 5.

My WPA2 problems seemed to have healed themselves.

My iPhone5 download speed was 12.06 and iPhone4 was 12.10. !

Last night they were both around 10-ish.

When I tried it first via Speedtest, iPhone 5 was only half the speed.
I think (not sure) I had not turned on bluetooth yet at that point. I have now, and it's still on though not connected at the instant.

Well im just glad that my iPhone5 is back to full wifi speeds after toggling bluetooth

I think there may be multiple wifi bugs...it is a new radio chipset after all...

This might be due to the speed test app because when I use the test below it gives me good results.

I'm in the same boat as the rest of you. I have a perfect running iPhone 5 with no scratches but the wifi issue sucks big time. For now I'm just going to wait and see what apple does. I don't have the luxury of being near an apple store. I don't want to take a chance and have it exchanged by mail to get one that is in worse shape. Seeing I have 90 days phone support and one year hardware support I'll just sit back and wait for a IOS fix.
