Having a bit of trouble with this. Logitech support says you're supposed to unpair the Apple remote first, but I can't seem to figure out how to do that. And the Harmony setup can't see the device over Wifi. It was able to pair to my Hue lights and TV, so I'm sure it's not the Harmony.Anybody able to do this successfully have a hint I'm missing.

I just swapped my ATV4 for the new ATV4K and my existing Harmony entry kept right on working without me doing anything at all.

I don't think it will work using the wifi method, only IR.

I have a Harmony elite and was able to add it to my devices just fine. I didn’t have to unpair the Apple remote either.
Do you have Apple TV listed under devices on your harmony remote?

How did you add it? I don’t see it under devices (list) and I can not find it on my network.

Thanks

I didn't add it by searching on wi-fi. I added it on the Harmony app by going to
Devices -> Edit Devices -> + Device -> Entertainment Device
I had to add it as a gen 4, but all the commands should be the same anyway.

Thank you - that works

- device manufacturer: Apple
- device model: gen 4

Thank you. Logitech's help page was totally confusing, suggesting needing to connect over wifi. I have no clue where I was supposed to find "gen 4" as model.

so i selected gen 4. how do you get harmony to turn off the apple to (put into sleep) when you turn off your activity or switch activities?

From what I’ve read, that function doesn’t work like it did on the ATV 3 I had. While not ideal, it doesn’t use much power and I’ve worked around it by having it set to power off automatically after 1 hour of inactivity.

yeah, i set to 15 minutes of no activity. one thing i noted is that my apple tv remote always takes 5-10 seconds to pair up. i'm guessing because it thinks the logitech is paired with it, and has to re-pair with the apple tv remote (i prefer it for ease of scrolling, search, etc.).

i guess i mine as well just delete apple tv from the logitech remote and just make an activity to turn on the right inputs on tv and avr.

I've never been able to get my Harmony to power down any ATV, including this new one. I just set it to sleep after 15 minutes and shut everything else off.

I'm not seeing the ATV pairing delay like you are though. I can have the Harmony and ATV remote each in one hand and use them back and forth with zero delay.

I swapped out my gen 4 unit with a new 4K unit just last night through the desktop app. I couldn't add a 5th gen unit. When trying to add it, it told me it couldn't find that and offered up some alternatives so I just selected a 4th gen apple tv. Then I went to my activity and selected the new 4K apple TV and unselected the old unit. Everything working just fine.

I have the Elite and the new Apple TV 4K...but there is a rather large delay when using the elite. 1-2 seconds before the apple tv responds after button press. Anyone else have this issue?
