Just got my Apple Watch today. I paired it with my Apple TV and it showed the link icon but the Apple Watch just returns to the add a device screen. Anyone know how to get it working?

Anyone know if you can activate airplay for a device (Apple TV, Airplay Speakers, etc) from the watch ?

I had to restart my appletv to get it to work. I had the same issue.

Tried that and restarting didn't solve it. In the middle of entering the numbers on the Apple TV, it just exits and goes back to the remotes screen. Really annoying.

I just added it over and over ´till it suddenly worked.

EDIT - That said, it leaves a lot to be desired. All you can do with it is using it as a remote. There´s no way of playing music (like in the remote app on iPhone/iPad), which I use my TV for most of the time.

Is your AppleTV updated? I had the same problem as the person who said restarting it worked. But I also updated the AppleTV, as there is a recent update for it

I'll go check again but I'm 90% sure I checked for updates yesterday.

Can you tell if the watch is on wifi? (Actually, I'm not sure if it needs that or bluetooth for the AppleTV, but I suspect it may need wifi...) If it needs wifi, remember that it needs a 2.5G wifi network on the watch side to connect.

Make sure your Apple TV and iWatch are on the same iTunes account. My wife and I both have watches, but she has her own iTunes account. Hers will not pair with the Apple TV.

Same problem here.. Can't seem to use Remote for Apple TV with my apple watch, unfortunately.
It's the same account and same wifi. I already have my iPhone paired with it. I thought it would be awesome to be able to control it with my watch, but I guess it's just an advertised feature that doesn't work for whatever reason.

I've used it, so it does work sometimes. Pretty neat for controlling movies. Oddly, I see someone claims you need to have the same iTunes account, but my wife and I where both able to pair watches with the AppleTV and have different accounts. It sounds like there is something else that prevents pairing.

Mine has worked fine for the last couple of months(I've only really used it a handful of times) flawlessly. Today, I went to use it and it said I needed to pair again. It took about 10 try's and finally worked. The only thing that I've changed for sure is iOS 9 on my phone and iPad. I don't think that would have anything to do with but not really sure. I may need to update my Apple TV as well. I'll check that next.

Same issue for me here. The watch intermittently appears on the remote screen but then disappears. When I am able to select it, it will go back to the remote screen when I start entering the code. Have tried restarting the appletv and watch with no luck. Everything is on the same WiFi network.

I've had some issues before. Try to remove the apple watch as a remote, then restart everything, then pair everything. This usually works

I've tried everything 100 times. Unplugged the AppleTV, restarted both, forgotten and rejoined wifi. Nothing solves it. The watch appears to connect after the Apple TV indicates the linked icon but the watch just returns to the add device screen. I am using iOS 9 on my phone so I am not sure if that is an issue or not. Also, my Apple TV is wired to my network, not wireless. That shouldn't matter though should it? My iPhone controls it fine. I just want this to work for the cool factor but I just can't get it to.

As your other thread indicates, your Watch is currently unable to connect to iPhone via wifi. You'll never get it to work with Apple TV until you fix the wifi problem.

Well, in that thread I was saying that I am not sure how to tell if the watch is on wifi since there is no configuration option for that. My phone is on wifi and my watch is connected to my phone so I can only guess that the watch is on wifi too?

But if you take it into the next room and it gets disconnected, it's most certainly not connected via wifi because that's Bluetooth range. Wifi has a much bigger range than that.

Based on this, it's safe to assume your Watch isn't connected via wifi.

Have you tried forgetting the network on your iPhone and reconnecting?

I did some testing, the Apple Watch remote is more limited in what it needs for connection. You need Bluetooth from the Watch to the phone, and the phone must be on the same wifi network as the Apple TV. The Apple Watch remote will NOT work over wifi to the phone, it does not send commands when the phone bluetooth connection to the Watch is off. (Using released firmware on watch and phone, no Betas.)

It's working for me just fine but someone else mentioned it's just a remote like your phone would be.
