Oh, speaking of DRM...now that DRM is gone for most iTunes songs there is no real reason Apple should care as any iTunes song can now be played on most any MP3 player.

have they said or done anything to suggest otherwise. not that I have seen. there was no immediate update to nix the whole Palm thing. no lawsuit filed to tell them to cut it out.

I HATE the fact that only my iTouch, iPod and iPhone can sync with music I purchased LEGALLY form Apple via the iTunes store

if it is/was DRM that restriction might be part of the contract with the labels. otherwise, you can sync it however you want. just not necessarily with itunes cause the syncing functions in the current versions was designed for the ipod line and not for every possible music player out there. companies like Microsoft etc need to be the ones to make the software or the appropriate deals to piggyback for their devices. we can not realistically expect apple to cover all the bases

This is an example of what Palm SHOULD have done in order to sync the Pre

http://www.markspace.com/products/pre/mac/palm-pre-sync-overview.html

If a third party can do this much better of a job than Palm, what does that say about them as a company? Pitiful.

And for those of you that have complained that you want a one-stop solution as your reason for wanting them to use iTunes let's not forget that you are unable to sync Contacts, Calendar, Photos, etc. via iTunes the way that Palm has rigged their device. This example from markspace IS a one-stop solution for syncing everything and it is what Palm should have done.

I can tell you that if I had a Palm Pre I would be buying The Missing Sync and I would be cursing Palm for not having their own solution. I know this because I bought The Missing Sync when I owned my Treo 700p.
