What app would you recommend for designing these type of items? Not ultra hi end, but decent. Thanks!

If you're looking to create something simple, Pages should be able to do the trick. Otherwise, InDesign is a standard option.

even though the "correct" application to use is indesign, i prefer to use illustrator for 1-2 page layouts. you can have multiple art boards in illustrator cs4, so it makes it even easier.
