Folks please help me here. I have this camcorder too, but I don't have a firewire ( as a matter of fact, I've never managed a firewire cable before ). My question is. I have this iMac 27 i5. Is it possible to connect my cam to my iMac via firewire? I saw this specification on Panasonic site:
Your DV Camcorder will have DV Output connector that will allow connection to a computer that has firewire/IEEE1394 connections. Depending on the available connection on the computer, you will need either a 4-pin to 4-pin or a 4-pin to 6-pin firewire cable which will provide the connection between the computer and camcorder
In this case Can someone tell me what cable I have to buy?...Sorry for my ignorance...

Do you have the Panasonic HDC-HS9? If so, that camcorder does not have Firewire. The HDC uses USB2, which your iMac has (you iMac has Firewire as well).

Strange...And why that information on Panasonic site buddy...Would you mind to read the post in this link buddy?

http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-...orders/Hi-Def-Camcorders/FAQs/model.HDC-HS9.F

Did I misunderstand something?...
You didn't misread anything. It's just Panasonic's website is pretty crappy.

The FAQ section seems to be general questions regarding Panasonic's entire line of camcorders. For instance, FAQ#5 refers to VHS-C camcorders.

As far as I know, the only consumer camcorders that have DV jacks (aka Firewire, iLink, IEEE1394) are miniDV and HDV units. Your camcorder is an AVCHD model, which uses USB2. I know of no AVCHD units that use Firewire.

In any case, your iMac has USB2 and your camcorder does as well. Just open up iMovie (or FinalCut if you have it) and import your videos.

Good luck
