My new 15" MBP has got 3 panic reports in the past 6 days. These always occur after leaving the computer on sleep for a few hours/over night. This MacBook was set-up from a new install. It has most of the same software installed as my 12" MacBook, which doesn't have any issues.

Here is a copy of the panic report I submitted to Apple this morning. I am not sure what it means:

So do these happen when waking up the computer from sleep? In the crash report it mentions some Garmin software. Try uninstalling it and see if the problem remains, and make sure the Garmin isn't connected to the MBP when sleeping.

Hi. No Garmin device is connected in sleep mode. It only happens when waking from sleep mode. I was using my MacBook pretty much all day yesterday (well, it was on!) and had no problems.

The thing is, the Garmin software is on my other MacBook and I have no problems. Could it istill be an issue on the new MacBook?

The best way to know for sure is to uninstall the Garmin software completely. If it still happens, then post whatever crash appears next. If it doesn't happen anymore, it's a sign that the Garmin software may be incompatible with the new MBP and needs an update. It's rare but such things do happen.

As your panic report doesn't show the classic hardware failure signs, it's worth tinkering before replacing the laptop altogether.

Thanks, I'd rather the issue wasn't hardware related, as it is a load of time and hassle to replace, etc. But if it is, then yes, would just get it replaced as it did cost a load of money! Have until January which is reassuring.

Anyway, I chatted with Apple support who ran a disk utility check, nothing wrong there

Have told me to reset NVRAM and SMC.

You mentioned that the Garmin software could be to blame. I also saw something in the report about my Yeti microphone, but that doesn't have any software installed. I should add that I got a panic report before connecting the microphone as well....
[doublepost=1480679004][/doublepost]PS: I checked Garmin and it was enabled to always be running in the background and to automatically download updates. I have disabled these options, and it has also been removed form my menu bar. Would this be the same as uninstalling it?

You can never be 100% sure, but a reasonable way to find out would be to go through your Activity Manager and see if anything Garmin-related shows up. Also, reboot once after disabling those options and make sure nothing Garmin-related is listed in your user's "Login items".

So give it a try that way and if it still crashes let us know what the crash shows, then we can take it from there.

Thanks for your help, really appreciate it.

I checked activity monitor, and Garmin is showing up in there, but it is greyed out, with no energy impact.

I am going out now, but will reboot and put to sleep before I leave. Then try the VRAM / SMC when I get back. The crashes happen overnight, so may take a few days to work out if the issue has been resolved.

I'll update if it happens again. This again :)

[doublepost=1480701884][/doublepost]I am going to try the VRAM / SMC reset as advised. Do you really think it will make a difference?

I am going to throw another spanner in the works.

I notice some electric sparks when I connect the 4k LG display! But this only happens when the other USB-C port is occupied on the MacBook.
[doublepost=1480706847][/doublepost]On the phone with Apple now. Quite disappointed after spending so much money. What makes it more annoying is I spent ages getting all the cables sorted on the desk, so would be a nightmare to re-do it all...

This last crash doesn't say much. Best to have Apple sort it out. So it appears it wasn't Garmin after all - although it was worth a shot.

After spending an hour on the phone, senior tech advisor told me to take the machine back and get it changed over.

I resorted the OS, and after doing so, noticed that half of the touch bar had solid white pixels. A button in the middle of the touch bar was half pixelated and half solid white.

Looks like quite a few hardware issues going on with this machine :(

Taking in back tomorrow. Hoping they have stock...
