One reason people are only hinting at to upgrade is Apple has a history of dropping almost all support for anything but it current OS.

Basicly any new software they release will only work with the current OS. Makes you wonder if they are intentional breaking the new stuff so it will not work on anything but the most current OS.

I wish apple would do something like M$ here where most of it OS are support for 5 years after they are released. Minus windows ME all the other ones got 5 years of support so software would work on the current one and the older one.

Even with Vista coming out they are following that pattern. XP would have been support for 5 years and it still going to have support until I believe some time in 07. Not an instant drop like apple

My iBook G4 1.2ghz laptop is running Panther with zero problems. I upgraded memory to 768mb and I can run a ton of apps without lag. I want to upgrade to Tiger (the dashboard seems useful along with expose), but would rather wait and see what Leopard brings.
then just stick with panther.
But believe me not, Leopard would not bring any speed bost for old machine just as Tiger did but more features regardless usefulness for you. Leopard apparently focus on optimism for inter macs.
