Pizza chain Papa John's today announced the launch of its own app for the fourth generation Apple TV, which will let customers create and order pizzas within the app with a special discount price of 25 percent on each order placed on Apple's set-top box. The app marks the first of its kind on Apple TV for a national restaurant brand focusing on placing food orders.

The app includes Papa John's full menu of pizzas, sides, drinks, and desserts, with a full customizable pizza topping creator available as well. In order to provide an easy check-out process, users can sign into an existing Papa John's account to automatically provide an address, payment information, and gain access to saved favorite meals.

"Pizza and entertainment are a natural fit," said "Papa John" Schnatter, Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Papa John's. "With the launch of our Apple TV app, we're hoping to make family movie night and friend gatherings around the TV even more enjoyable by delivering the same quality product and experience our customers expect in a convenient and interactive way."
Once users begin ordering on the app, they can revisit past orders to simply re-order the same thing, or start an all-new meal selection process with Papa John's aim for creating a "conversational" food ordering experience in the living room. The app is compatible only with the fourth generation Apple TV, and will begin rolling out wide today.

I don't need this for my TV but one thing I thought I would mention that I like about the standard app is the ability to schedule a pickup time. I place my order on the way out to an event with a pickup time right after its scheduled to be over. I swing by on my way home and pizza is ready. Can't get much better than that. We only eat it about twice a month but its handy enough I keep the app on my phone and every so often get a free pizza with points.

If they announce Pizza that doesn't make my family sick, let me know.
This is us with Pizza Hut or Dominos. We can do Papa Johns. We do prefer though local pizza from smaller shops.

Okay, that's kind of cool since pizza is my #2 favorite food of all time. Though I would like to see other pizzerias do the same, like Jets.

Yeah I only get Pizza from local Pizza shops. Its the only kind we can stomach. The mass produced kind from Dominos, Pizza Hut, Papa Johns....causes stomach issues for all of us.

Freakin' awesome! I know this might sound silly to many of you, but I'm all over that. Going to download that app as soon as I get home. Looks like PJs is getting all my Pizza biz now.

Once upon a time people had to go eat at, or pick up pizza from a restaurant. Then someone invented delivery and folks phoned in their orders (queue the youngsters asking "you had to call someone to order pizza?"). Then the internet came along and eventually pizza joints woke up and made it so folks could order pizza from their computers. Then one day Steve's people invented the iPhone, and some enterprising bloke in the pizza biz said "I bet I can make an app for that." Well, as of today I can order myself up a pizza without even having to leave the couch. Hot damn!

I'm definitely giving this a try. Papa John's isn't my favorite or anything (non-chain pizza is where it's at, of course) but it's not bad for cheap pizza. Much better than Domino's, for example. And get 25% off every order?? Can't beat that.;)

If only they also got rid of the Papa Priority option. As a former employee, it really ticks off our drivers when people just cut in front of the orderline by paying $3 extra. We had to stop making other pizzas in order to finish that order.

Can't they do it in a way where if you do 10 jumping jacks or something you unlock coupons...help fight obesity even if you're a pizza place. Not to mention it can lower their ObamaCare bill, I know their CEO will love that!

Now if only it would let you use Apple Pay. Maybe when Touch ID comes to the Apple TV remote?

Why bring it to the remote, they can have the Apple Pay work through the iPhone Touch ID. I use my phone as a remote all the time with the Apple TV except to change the volume.

Future update of the app, you would be able live stream you pizza while being cooked as an in-app purchase only for $.99. And a realtime gps tracking update on their way to delivery for additional $.99. :D

The Apple Pay integration (whether it's through the remote, or iPhone) would be a nice option. I personally don't eat Pappa Johns very often so I won't be taking advantage of this app, but if some other restaurants follow PJ's lead, then I can see those showing up on my ATV.
