Parallax is lame. After all the hype about this new GUI phenomena, the product is nothing more than a Royal Sham. I flipped the switch to Reduce Motion and Bold Text, then added a black Background, but it still wasn't even close to being a remedy for the poor readability. Pity on the iPad display. Luckily for now, I kept iOS 6 on my iPhone, but sad to say that my iPad is now minimized.

I remember during the iOS 7 Beta period reading the reviews claiming that photos depicting the flat interface didn't show the full graphic effect without Parallax. Because of those claims I did have hope that seeing images first-hand would create one of those magical computing experiences which only the folks at Cupertino can provide. Turns out that those pictures are no different than what's in front of me on my iPad. I'm beginning to think that the parallax illusion is Apple and Ive's delusion.

Listen to the Wild Cats Stir.

This sort of thing happens when you get the marketing department involved with the design process.
Interesting; I'd have guessed just the opposite origin. It just feels like something someone put in solely because they *could,* useless and even almost unnoticeable to many people though it is, which then got talked up to make the official feature list longer.

I think it's good but should be more noticeable than it already is. At WWDC they showed the icons almost sitting an inch or so above the wallpaper, but the version that was subsequently released just moves a bit.

It's a novelty in the first week. It's a nice little touch but it uses up precious battery life. So I shut it off and don't really miss it at all.

Took me two days to realize that effects were making my dizzy. :( I turned it off and haven't had a problem.

Turning it off helps a little with the battery life too.

I still have it on but don't think I've used a wallpaper yet that really accents it's purpose. I don't turn off anything to help battery life except bluetooth.

My 5S battery is fine with all features functioning. (except bluetooth)

I love the 5S and have grown to love iOS7.

Would like to know a WP that really accents the parallax effects.

I have mine enabled, though it doesn't seem to bother me. Tbh, I've not really noticed it all that much.

Parallax if running will drain the battery pretty easily here is a tip on how to disable it

I dont find that to be the case on my iPad 2. I have all of the other heavy-hitters turned off but I leave the Parallax and motion stufff turned on. I find the battery usage to be trivially more than without these turned on. But, my iPad 2 seemed to have been built with a great battery. Its always been excellent. Im sure there are differences between batteries from device to device.
