I dunno, for me it points to a kind of sad Weird Science feel. Some nerds in the basement of Microsoft decided to create a sexy 'perfect' digital hot chick for no other reason than to excite other virgin nerd guys.

How are women going to feel about interacting with this weird cyber chick?

I'm just not convinced that a voice recognition interface needs to be looking like this. I'd be interested to hear what women think of this. Yet more objectification and peddling of the unrealistic like Barbie and Disney princesses, or harmless fun?

Cortona on Windows 10 is not the hot computer chick. Do you want to see Cortana on Windows 10?

To be honest, does not sound like you gave the insider program much time, everying sucks to you. Just stick to apple, I think windows 10 is a very good OS, I'll judge it after a month use though. If I judged apple software of betas, they would also suck....
True. My preference just matches with Apple for the most part.
I just been submitting bugs left and right on my roommate's PC with this beta OS, not actually using it for personal use. I'll make final judgements when everything is finished and I have to use it for some of my classes.

Unreal.

I guess the world stopped making dystopian movies just long enough for an entire generation to be born and raised and have no idea why having open microphones in your living room, running a live feed straight out to some corporate & government server farm somehwere is a bad idea.

Fine. Learn by doing.

They won't learn. Its been sold to them as "cool". Government is the beneficial momma that would never hurt them, and if you want to hide yourself you couldn't possibly be up to anything good. Critical thought has been all but banished from society.

One thing no one has brought up yet is the potential for all these voice inputs to be used to create spectrographic maps of the user's voice. Pair that with all the information people are volunteering to these devices and the organizations behind them, and the potential for abuse is beyond anything in any movie or novel. For instance, anyone could be framed - perfectly - for any crime. Right down to images of the person at the scene and even a voice recording of them talking about arranging the crime.

Am I missing something. Is Cortana believed to be better than Siri? Why would someone with a Mac want to use Cortana?

Because it most likely is. Siri on iOS 9 is just the same Siri without any real user type analysis and customisation. If Cortana really delivers what it's promising than its way better than Siri.

We need Siri 2.0

I am not going to enter into the debate about the use of Parallels. I use specialist software which only runs on Windows

Having been frustrated with the error message that I got when using W8.1 under Parallels to prebook W10, today I downloaded from the Windows site an ISO file https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO It has installed without any problems and I now have Windows 10 operating under Parallels 10 Desktop 10.2.2 (29105) . That includes having Cortona running on my Retina MBP.

Why isn't there a headline about the Windows 10 launch today? I can't imagine nobody is excited about upgrading their Macs to Windows 10.

I've used windows 10 in Parallels 10 & it works quite well , I do like Cortana , its not a bad Assistant at all & quite witty like Siri . I know it sucks with Parallels each year you got to pay for upgrades etc .

Meanwhile, I'm running Windows 10 on my ASUS Zenbook and loving it.. be jealous Mac users :)

Watch out for the Joker. Windows 10 Shares Your Wi-Fi With Contacts.

Also from the terms of agreement:

“We will access, disclose and preserve personal data, including your content (such as the content of your emails, other private communications or files in private folders), when we have a good faith belief that doing so is necessary to.”

Seriously?

I think Tim Cook has a winning strategy here in Apple not being interested in users private information. MS is turning into an Ad-Ware business.

Spyware too.

I could not believe all the defaulted privacy settings to retrieve and share information with whoever. If you did not do a custom install with the privacy settings then your settings are to share everything and anything.

I am pretty sure the US government has advanced the cost of Windows 10 that we would have paid for otherwise. A bit like shouting us all a drink or two to get into our homes.

It's a business model. They are doing business. Unfortunately they are going down the road of capitalising on private user information. It stinks and in the long run it will come back and bite them. It's not illegal, it's all there in the agreement to use their software.

I'm just happy Apple is going the other direction, they are better strategists it appears.

ok tinfoil hat. Siri's been around for awhile now and "hey siri" works when your phone is plugged in.

No clue, but it's crazy that they haven't.

what button would be the "Siri" button on existing Macs? It works on iOS because each one has a home button to hold. Plus you can assume more often if you're on a mac you have a keyboard right there to google. Siri is better for on the go when you can't type.

Not sure you need a button. The 'Hey Siri' would work fine.
