Parallels 3.0 Build 5626 XP problem

I expect this is a long shot but I don't get much help from Parallels.

I've been running this build in Boot Camp since last June.

Suddenly the XP task bar and desktop icons disappeared and I can't use XP at all. Parallels customer service says to reinstall XP.

First, I wonder if there is another alternative worth a try and second I don't really remember how to do that if that's what it comes to.

Possibly try and reinstall parallels tools (under Virtual Machine in the menu bar)
