Hey Guys, i've had macs for about 2 years now and i hear that windows are better for playing games, so i decided to install windows on my UMP 13" 2.26 ghz with 4gb of ram .
here is the thing, how much space would it take ? do i need anti-virus ?
what about the memory sharing thing, when the parallels is off i mean im not running the software, will that shared memory all go back to normal or under the mac ?
oh and is it really true that games are better on windows ?

Opinions will differ, but here are mine:

    • There are a number of native games for OS X, but on the whole, if you are a gamer, then you will have a better gaming experience with Windows

    • Yes, if you install Windows, your Windows Virtual Machine or Boot Camp partition will need the same AV protection that a normal Windows environment will need, but you will not need any additional protection for OS X (there is no bleed-over, etc)

    • The amount of space you dedicate will be determined by whether you install XP, Vista, or Windows 7, and whether you fully install the games, how many, etc. (in other words it will vary greatly)

    • If you are going to game, you will get the best results by running natively through Boot Camp instead of virtualizing with Parallels (you will be greatly disappointed)

    • Yes, if you run Parallels, your memory will be "normal" when you close it (it does not stay dedicated to Windows)

NOTE: Playing games on Windows in Parallels 4.0 won't be the greatest experience, I have it and I am able to play Age of Empires 3: TAD on med/highest graphics (highest the tree tops aren't drawn), due to the virtual graphics card.

If you installed it on Boot Camp, you'd get the full power of your graphics card etc...

    Kind Regards
