Glad there are alternatives. I prefer VMWare Fusion on my Macs. Though thankfully I need it less and less. Hopefully I won't need it at all if the update to iWork this fall makes Numbers more robust.

Use LogMeIn instead - for Free

Think i will stick to using LogMeIn as it is free and works extremely well ;)

Agreed. AND LMI allows you access up to 5 machines.

Much better deal than Parallels or even SplashTop.

Hey Parallels - stick with what you know to virtualize a desktop and charge a flat price for your product. Bilking your customers with a steep annual fee for something that another company already does for free doesn't sit well.

As Queen Elizabeth said in Shakespeare In Love at the end of the movie...

"Too Late... Too Late!"

I have the previous FREE Parallels app on my iPad and it seems to work in exactly the same way but without the $$$$ cost.

That said, I never used it.

Logmein instead.

TeamViewer, and the others, serve as a remote viewer and virtual keyboard & mouse. This app provides an experience that feels like you're still using an iPad app while accessing your Mac or PC.

I see. Ok, by watching the video, this seems to be true. But, still, as a functionality / remote access, it is still under question why use this expensive to buy & (relatively) expensive to subscribe s/w when the core functionality is free from other utilities.

IMO they should keep at least a lower pricing policy.

That's really awesome...but WAY too much money!

Parallels have some great engineers and programers, but greedy executives.

I have just installed the trial and I am impressed. The old Parallels Mobile was clever but not easy to use this one makes best use of the iPad interface and is a pleasure to use.
That said I think the annual fee is way too high and that will probably be enough for me to delete it in 14 days.

I see that everybody here seems to be complaining about the price and saying that they already use other software that fits them well. However, I'm yet to see somebody here who has actually tested the app before complaining.

Has anybody actually used the app? How is the experience? Is it any different/better/worse than the alternatives?

I hate the subscription software model to begin with....and for $80/yr for one computer there's no way. Maybe $12/yr for one computer, or $50/yr for 5 computers....but even then the whole idea of a subscription rubs me the wrong way.

The subsciprtion model is not really meant to combat piracy.

It's the general movement of the entire software industry to ensure steady revenue streams.

Microsoft is pushing office subsciprtions as well as Adobe with photoshop.

Software has become so mature, the bigger Office 2013 competitor is still Office 2007/Office 2003/Office 2010. People feel very little need to upgrade software these days. Same with photoshop.

I'd have happily paid a sub - but $79 is just ridiculous.

At the end of the day it's your mac - your ipad - your copy of OSX - your copy of windows - your internet you have paid for - or your wifi network...

So what am I paying $79 for ????? What are they doing remotely at their end to justify this price ?????

No sale

Watch out folks subscription software. Huge increase in the cost of using software. No way will I use it now. Too bad, it looks like it could be useful.

I'll stick with iTeleport for me. Works great for what I need and only had to pay for the apps for my iOS and OSX.

I downloaded the app and installed the necessary software on my Mac.
It works great WAY better than LogMeIn or any other I've tried. It did feel more like using an iPad app

BUT, $79 per computer....NO way!

I used the app a bit today and it's VERY good in my opinion, it really is a lot better than VNC/LMI/Splashtop etc due to the native controls and smart zooming which make applications much more usable on an iPad.

However, while I'd certainly pay for the software I wont be paying per machine or a subscription per year.

They also really need to offer a standalone version that does not need to connect to Parallels servers so it can work in a firewalled office environment. I can see them making a lot of money there if they relax the heavy anti-piracy/maximum revenue rubbish.

Read the post before yours.

Wow! Sounds great... until I got to the $80/year price tag. No deal. $10/year per device would be okay or $100 to buy it and be able to use it on all my iOS and MacOS combinations or $50 for one iOS/MacOS pairing. But subscriptions are not good and one that costs so much is ridiculous. Pass.

I just set this up and it seems to work VERY well.

I use Splashtop daily as I have a Mac Mini with the iPad as its monitor/ controls, but this blows it away. I also use a Galaxy note 10.1 with Splashtop on the Mac Mini, as it works with the S pen ( very handy), but this is way beyond even that. What a clever idea. This reminds me of a native Apple app.

I will actually buy this, even though its so expensive, as so far its seems worth it.

Thank God it's easy to set up and they automatically start a trial, without any credit card BS.

Another thing worth mentioning is that scrolling in Safari using this is not pleasant. but why would you want to do that anyway? - maybe in a pinch, which would make it doable.

Also, the price tag for this is perhaps, reasonable.

They are are small company, and with piracy and all, they have to ask this much, considering the 'obvious' R&D that must have gone in to this.

Installed this last night, and I was impressed. It is a very well executed product.

Mine says I have a 90 day free trial!

I'm looking for a Remote Control solution but $80 a year is ridiculous. I want to be able to connect to my Mac from my ipad, or another Mac, or iPhone (this one isn't essential). I'd also like to keep it to 1 solution and as cheap as possible. I like splashtop so $17 a year is acceptable. From what I understand logmein has remote access for free, but their paid version is higher. Can anyone compare these services and advise on what would be best?
