I use both.

I prefer VMWare in my Linux VMs

But for Windows 7, VMware cannot touch Parallels 5.

So Parallels 5 FTW.

So I was just looking at the tutorial videos on the VMware website and something caught my interest. The option "Bring Your Entire PC to the Mac", does this bring over the licensee OS from that PC to the Mac as well meaning that you do not need to purchase another copy of the OS?

I still have our old PC that we replaced when we purchased our iMac. It is a Dell and of course the OS is for the Dell and most likely would not load on Boot Camp or Parallels. We don't use it any more so can I delete everything I don't want on that machine and load VMware and use this Bring Your Entire PC to the Mac option then?

Oh and it's XP professional.

I've used VMware in the past but have been curious about the bundle. Since it ends in 7 hours I'd love to hear your thoughts on both if you have used both or your thoughts on Parallels if you use it currently. :D

ars technica has some excellent articles about the 2

if I remember correctly the verdict came out in favour of VMware, although one of them was clearly better for graphics intensive apps, you should check it
