1.How do I install linux using a live cd?
2.If I install vista and move the virtual machine (or whatever it is called) to a usb hard drive , Can I run vista in parallels without moving it back to the hard drive on the mac?

3.I know parallels needs admin access to install but if you want to run the program from a normal account , Do you have to type in an admin password?

Thanks,

1. You just put the DVD/CD in your drive and boot up the virtual machine, after you've configured it to boot from the DVD/CD drive. After that, you can consult any of the tutorials you choose on installing Linux. There are plenty of good ones out there.

2. Parallels creates two kinds of files for a VM. The first is a config file that's a *.pvs file. The second is a hard drive file or a *.hdd file. The hard drive file is the important one. You can move it to any kind of media you want. You'll just need to create a new virtual machine (which creates the new *.pvs) using the already created *.hdd file(s). Thrust me, this will be much easier than changing the config through the parallels interface. I'm not sure what kind of performance you'll get though.

3. No
