Parallels stops my keyboard from being recognized by mac programs

Hi, running windows XP SP2, under parallels latest version). 24" iMac twin intel.

when I run windows, and occasionally flip between the windows and the mac enviroment. somehow when my keyboard is no longer recognized by the mac programs till I quite parallels.

anyone know how do I keep the keyboard working in both. it ins on of those dam flat aluminium keyboards....
