how do I make a backup or perhaps image of my windows 10? I don't want to buy another copy of Win10. reinstalling doesn't work as somehow the configuration is change thus forcing me to get another copy.

I would like to have something incase I have to get this serviced or something.

thanks for your time and help

If it's just an image of your Windows 10 installation that you need, download WinClone. Also, I thought that Parallels has the ability to backup your Windows 10 image in case it gets damaged or the VM gets deleted.

I suppose Parallels does that but I was just wanting to be sure. I don't want to lose anything if I had to get the MB air serviced or something. thanks for the info.

The best way to back of a VM is to copy / duplicate it and move it to an external device. This is the recommendation of both Parallels and VMWare Fusion.

I've looked into but I can't seem to figure it out. I was trying to copying the pvm file but I can't locate it. Does anyone know of a good way to backup parallels in High Sierra?

Mine is in ~/Parallels/ which I think is the default location. Might be in ~/Documents/Parallels/

How are you backing up your computer? If you have Carbon Copy Cloner or Superduper clone, the VM will automatically backed up every time with that.

I'm using time machine. I think it also backs up but I just want to be sure I have an image of it if I need to have this serviced. I did find the pvm file and copied that to an external drive. thanks.

It backs up with time machine by default unless you specify otherwise. If you also want to make a copy like I do, in the control centre right click on Windows 10 (or whatever its labelled as), click on 'Show in Finder' then just copy the file.

thanks. I copied the file to an external drive so I can have it in both time machine and another drive.
