Parallels Win11 on MacBookPro M1Max

Has anyone successfully run Windows11 (Build 22483) on M1 Max?
I can install it, but it doesn't run right - the start menu doesn't show up,
apps have start-up delay, screen has some artifacts.

What still works well is my old ARM Win10 VM from February 2020 - really fast and lean.

I’m running Win 11 just fine in Parallels on an M1 Pro - I wouldn’t think the extra GPU cores on the Max would cause an incompatibility, but as far as I know Parallels has said they don’t yet officially support either M1P or M1M.

I'm running parallels on my new 16" M1 Max 32/32, just for running a CAD program and it does have some quirks but it is working.

So you can run Windows 11 in Parallels on an M1 Mac... but it has to be the ARM version of Windows.

What exactly does that entail? Do you have to use ARM versions of Windows programs? Or will any ol' Windows X86/64 programs work?

It is a lot of hoops to jump through, and depending on how much time you need to spend in Windows right off the bat, it may be worth waiting a bit to work out the bugs. I did have to sign up for the Windows Insider Program to access an ARM based Windows installation. I spend less than 10% of my time in Windows and I am able to complete the tasks needed so far. If I relied heavily on it, I would definitely wait a bit for development to catch up a bit.

I have been running W11 on Parallels without a problem. Do lots of gaming there as well.

Open a Powershell with administrative privileges by using the Task Manager, then input the following 2 commands:

Set-WinSystemLocale en-US Set-WinUserLanguageList en-US -Force

Reboot and the VM should stop locking up.

Found my problem cause: I Installed the German language Pack and set Default to it. Then the Error occurs. Switched Back to en-US everything is fine...

Reboot and the VM should stop locking up.

thanks a lot - now it works well (whatever fixed it - as I did not install anything German).
But I already suspected a locale problem

well X86 Windows programs run (e.g. Office with full VBA/ActiveX compatibility) - 32 Bit for sure, but I think 64 is also supported by now.
It runs quite well (if it works) - much smoother than on my i9 16inch MacBook Pro - no Fan no CPU load, just running nicely despite some emulation going on.

ok now I see why the fix worked. Parallels auto-install gets the locale from MacOS (in my case German) *and*
there seems to be a bug with Parallels and non-english locales.

Just one update - as I had problem with a poorly written VBA App that requires some language settings in German - only the first line

Set-WinSystemLocale en-US

is sufficient by now (Build 22509)
