my friend is getting rid of her 5 year old Epson all in one and was curious if scans could be saved to the printer by mistake. I thought no but promised to check for her. Thanks.

Do scanners have the ability to save stuff you scanned? Not saved to a computer but to the actual device.
I suppose some could; your friend will have to check the specifications of her particular device. Does the scanner's software give options to read/write data to/from the device?
I'm unfamiliar with the brand you've listed above.

Whoops. That's a typo, its an epson. I'll ask her to check. I could check mine, too, I also have an epson. I told her just to smash it since she was going to throw it away anyway.

I suspect there's no storage in the Epson. Give us the model number and we can check (or Google it yourself).

Don't smash it - donate it to Goodwill or a school or something.

There is no way to purposely scan it onto the device, she's so paranoid, she wanted to know if it was possible that it does that without her knowing. I promised to ask on what she calls my "nerd forum" so I did. ;)

Or take to eRecycling, if available.

Can open up the unit to see if a disk drive in place.

Both good recommendations but I don't think she will do that. She's a little on the cray-cray side when it comes to privacy. I'd like to open it up just to see it for myself.

There's definitely no mechanical hard drive in it. If it has any storage, it'd be a small NAND chip.
