Going through my downloads folder, I have seven or eight '.part' files about which I have no idea from where they came. I assume they're automatically generated when I download other files but I don't know which files generated them (though I could check the date created, durr, why didn't I do this, may update thread later if this ends up being relevant). My main reasons for creating this thread:
  1. How/why are these created?
  2. Can I delete them safely?
I assume I can just delete them and not worry about it, but erring on the side of safety is a good motto. Also, they are taking up a Gig of space which I'd rather fill with funny pictures.

The .part files are created during the download and should be deleted after a successful download. For example, if you are downloading xxxjjj.zip then during download you would see two fies: xxxjjj.zip and xxxjjj.part. If they are still there either the download got messed up or something stopped it. i would just delete them.
