Does anyone know if this is safe to do. The reason I want to is because I want about a 1 or 2 Gig FAT drive on my ipod so I can transfer stuff from any pc just like a thumb drive would. I could get a thumb drive, but I just want to know if it is possible in Leopard.

Might not be a good idea. Even if you format as FAT, I think Mac iTunes will recover it as a Mac iPod... Cant you do that on a Windows machine? Then you'll be sure to have a FAT iPod.

Edit: reading again, I noticed you wanted to partition your iPod... so nevermind :S I never tried that, so I cant help :/

See I don't know with the Leopard Disk Utility if you could resize the original partition with out it affecting anything else.
