Partitioning

ok maybe I'm just missing something but I need help here...

I need to create several partitions on a 250G drive (running Tiger)
the Disk Utility has all the buttons for partitioning grayed out...?

I realize that I would be loosing everything including OS, which is fine since this is a new machine.

how do I go about it?

You need to boot from the install DVD and run Disk Utility from there.

There are some programs such as iPartition that let you create several partitions without formatting the hard drive.
