I'm trying to partition my HDD, and when I run the boot camp utility to run it, it gives me an error saying that the hdd cannot be partitioned because some of the files can't be moved. It says to back everything up and reformat the drive.

I really don't want to reformat my whole computer just for a partition. Is there anything I can do or has anyone else ran into this problem before? Any help is very much appreciated.

buy iDefrag and defrag the whole HDD. there are files on the end part of the HDD platter and Boot Camp Assistant cant move them. defragmentation moves all your files to the start of the HDD platter.

You might try opening up Disk Utility and repairing the hard drive to see if that helps, if not try what was stated above.
