My iPad just prompted me for a new pass code. Never experienced this before. I went through the process and now have a new one. This after I added a new email account.

Did you just connect to an Exchange email account? ActiveSync policies can control passcodes, including complexity and how often they need to be changed. If you had a simple passcode, your mail admin may have set a requirement for a more complex one, which is common.
