I know there have been a few mentions of this issue but I was unable to locate a central thread about it. My AT4 doesn't work with my old HDMI switch that I used for AT3 (the signal will only properly passthrough if some other device attached to the switch is powered on).

Anyone had any luck with a passive switch? Or do I need to swap it for a powered one? Frankly I've never had this issue with any HDMI device previously...

OK, let me rephrase: Has anyone else experienced the same issue that I'm having with a passive HDMI switch? :D

Mine works fine with a cheapo one from RadioShack that worked with my ATV 3. Maybe it's the switch itself? The conditions you mention to make it work reminds me of a device that suffered a power outage so try a new device.

i have a matrix splitter 4 x 2 that works with the new Apple TV. i use it on my main tv and a hdmi 35 foot run to my tv in the bedrooms receiver.
