Password on Messages

I don't think it can be done without jailbreaking your phone. The standard Message app does not have this as an option.

Correct, only on a JB iphone.
Not with stock firmware.

You can lock your whole device, however.

You might want to try this. I've not used it so this is in no way an endorsement. I just happened to see it this morning when browsing the AppShopper site your request made me think of it.

I could be mistaken, but I believe WhatsApp messenger has this feature. I haven't used it in forever so I'm not completely sure though.
