I can't remember the last time I downloaded an app from the App Store. Other the stock apps and Bank of America, maybe one or two more and that is all I use these days.

Why doesn't Apple pursue criminal charges against these "developers"?

Because private entities pursuing criminal charges (private prosecution) is not allowed in the state of California. The government would need to pursue any criminal charges.

Gross this is just going to make my review times take even longer...

They dont review **** it seems you just wait 5-10 days then it's reviewed for 5 mins then it processes.

The real shame is they don't normally remove apps from the store. Take a look at the roleplaying top 200 games. There are about 50 minecraft clones that don't work and just take people's money. Nothing but 1 star reviews asking for money back. Apple doesn't give a **** tho they are getting their cut so who cares if the customer or real devs get screwed. Hell Apple even features some of these.

Here are a few examples it's gross all cloned scam apps.

Your App Store is turning into google play junk and you don't care.

Sneaky guys out there. That's why it's important Apple continues their security and privacy fight.

Social media in general is mainly an intelligence gathering system.

Apples fight with FBI has nothing to do with this.

This is an example of the apple bouncers waving through a know offender after checking thier ID as they go inside to steal again.

Its useless to banned this developer, he will just create again and again.

This person should be jailed.

You assume he used his real personal details to create the account?

This is concerning and a little bit curious. How can such apps pass the supposedly stringent review processes? Interesting development indeed.

Yet a honest developer can have their app denied for some minor non-issue after a few weeks long review. This is preposterous, Apple really needs to pull their **** together.

Apple has failed hard in App Store security. And anyone human should be able to see that this app is shady.... I fear that many of the app reviews are done via some automated tools that Apple has, with no real human verifying it.

It is unclear how a developer who was caught operating a malicious app was able to get additional apps past Apple's radar.
It's perfectly clear. The Apple Store team has lousy radar.

Wow! Aren't you a model citizen, careful and resourceful! And not the least bit condescending or pretentious!
Relax poppa. It's a well-worn expression, and the Apple Store team deserves a jab for this.

Millennials just can't help themselves when it comes to these self-absorbed social media apps. Shady app promises to track who visits your page. Should you risk your account and install it---NO. But did you anyway---YES! They're like babies with shiny objects when it comes to social media.

We have in the uk the Computer Misuse Act 1990. This essentially protects owners/storers of data from hacking. One proviso suggests that no one Hass the right to access Instagram through means other than that the company make available I.e. Their apps and website.

If data has been accessed then it is possible that Instagram have a case against the developer but only if they got the data from a source Instagram hadn't made available I.e. A web address.

I should imagine that the developer is guilty of deception and not hacking. Instagram have a responsibility to make access to their account details more secure.

Many people here are rightfully noting that Apple should do something about this. However, perhaps so should Instagram.
