paste a new region in Garageband

Hi,

I'm trying to edit an audio (voice) track in GarageBand. My problem is i have deleted a portion of lets say 2 seconds and the new region i've created is 3 seconds. (1 second longer than the old region) When I insert the new region it pushes the following region down one second and I loose that one second of audio in the region that follows the inserted region.

How can I paste an audio region without changing the length of the following region?
